Freelancing, Newbie Mistakes

Mistakes

Its a well-known but often forgotten fact, that online we appear as our best selves. We share a curated version of our lives, if you will. I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to share the mistakes I make. so that’s what I’m going to do.

Notice anything wrong?

No Moo didn’t botch up the printing. They did quite a good job if you ask me. Even sent the cards in a lovely little holder.

No, it was me who made the mistake. See it yet?

How about now?

Yeah. This dipstick didn’t delete the printing guide layers! See that arty boarder? the one that looks like a ‘cut here’ guide? yeah, that’s it.

How Professional of me to forget to delete the guide layer! Rest assured that I have Kicked myself in the head, many times over since opening up my package. But I’ve learned a valuable lesson here.

Remember, whenever you’re creating for print, delete the bloody print guide layers.

I’m not going to pretend this didn’t happen, Hell, I’m still going to use these! But to those out there, who are just starting out like me, I hope this mistake, and the many others I will no doubt make, will help those who follow after me, as they enter the ‘real world’.

Learn from my mistakes. Someone has to.
