After much consideration, a few sketches done on spec and seeking advice from a few authors groups on Facebook, I have been chosen to illustrate the follow up to Detective Bella Unleashed – The Case of Missing Max. The original artist wasn’t available to illustrate the follow up, so I’m doing it.
Don’t get too excited, its fairly low budget. But I have work for a children’s book! Six illustrations plus the cover.
When I told a friend he immediately thought of a children’s picture book. you know, those 32 page, few sentences a page books? While I LOVE those and would really enjoy creating one of those myself one day, that’s not the case. This is a children’s book for ages 6-12.
The book is the second in the series, and I’ve been told that the first was a bestseller on Kindle! That’s great news. The book is written from the perspective of a dog, which I think is pretty cool. The author is super hardworking and honest. Honesty and transparency are things I really appreciate in a Client. I think this will develop into a good working relationship.
Looking forward to working on a ‘longer term project’ with a Client, drawing Dogs a lot more and generally, experiencing Illustrating for a children’s book for the first time.
Wish me luck!
